Lupus Cure

Lupus, a terrible disease that can cause a myriad of problems, currently has no cure. This autoimmune disease can affect the body in a number of ways, including producing a high fever, numerous body aches and rash or lesions that may appear on different parts of the body. There is currently no lupus cure, but there are several treatment options that can normalize life for a Lupus patient.

  • Anti-inflammatory drugs – Because a lot of Lupus patients struggle with joint aches and pains, including arthritis, anti-inflammatory drugs can become a very helpful way to make life more bearable. Drugs such as ibuprofen and aspirin can help to ease the inflammation that occurs when the white blood cells attack the body.
  • Corticosteriods – Corticosteriods, such as the well-known Prednisone, can be prescribed by a doctor to reduce swelling when anti-inflammatories do not work. This type of medication does usually have some side-effects, such as weight gain and swelling, so it is important that doctors tell their patients about the side-effects before prescribing it.
  • Antimalarials – While Lupus and Malaria are now known to be related diseases, some antimalarial drugs have been found to be very beneficial in treating Lupus.
  • Corticosteriod Creams – Some Lupus patients are plagued with rashes. Corticosteriod creams are the best way to stop the rashes after they have occurred.

One of the best ways to treat the disease is to stay one step ahead of it by stopping the symptoms before they occur. Lupus break-outs can occur when the body is forced to endure too much stress, so the calmer of a lifestyle the patient has, the less likely they are to have a Lupus break out. It is also important to keep a healthy lifestyle, including getting plenty of sleep and eating a well-balanced diet.
